Cyber Security Engineer - Platform

We are collaborative, curious and customer obsessed, and we are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer, Platform to help operate and secure the Linux platforms that sit behind our customer services. You will work across a fleet of hundreds of Linux servers, with real depth in automation rather than repetitive manual work.
This is a role built for someone early in their career who wants to grow into security engineering and platform work, with senior engineers alongside them the whole way.

What You'll Be Doing
This role keeps our shared and customer platforms reliable, secure and supportable across a large distributed Linux environment. Working closely with senior engineers, the Cyber Security Engineering Manager and the wider cyber team, you will carry out operational work, contribute to platform improvements and progressively take ownership of more complex tasks. Practical Linux skills, methodical troubleshooting and a customer first approach count for more here than deep specialisation in any one tool. Orro provides on the job training on our platforms and customer specific tools, with a clear path into Ansible and infrastructure automation, security engineering and platform architecture.
Administer and support Linux servers across a large distributed fleet, covering user access, services, packages, storage, patching and routine maintenance
Monitor platform health and investigate issues using logs, system tools and a structured troubleshooting approach
Build on and improve Ansible playbooks, roles and inventories to automate configuration, patching and repeatable operational work
Diagnose connectivity across TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, proxies and site to site or remote access VPNs
Support the deployment, configuration and lifecycle management of cyber security platforms and the infrastructure beneath them, including hardening, vulnerability remediation and certificate and key renewals
Work directly with customers and internal teams to explain technical issues, provide progress updates, coordinate changes and keep documentation, procedures and asset records current
What You'll Bring
The Essentials
Around 1 to 3 years in Linux or systems administration, infrastructure support or a similar technical role, with exposure to cyber security platforms such as logging and monitoring, vulnerability management, EDR or SIEM
Practical Linux administration across the command line, users and permissions, packages, services, filesystems, processes, logs and patching
Foundational Ansible experience across YAML, inventories, playbooks and roles, with comfort using Git for controlled changes
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot DNS, ports, routes, firewalls and VPN connections
Strong customer facing communication, including clear written updates, confident technical conversations and sound judgement on when to escalate
Bonus Points
Bash or Python scripting, APIs, CI/CD pipelines or other infrastructure automation experience
Hands on experience deploying or administering cyber security platforms such as SIEM, EDR or vulnerability management tooling
Experience with RHEL or Ubuntu, Azure or AWS, VMware or container platforms
Even if you don't tick every box, don't let that hold you back. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
