Systems Engineer
Sydney | Melbourne | Brisbane | Hybrid Work Model | Competitive base + super + benefits
We are not your typical internal IT team. We are technically sharp, curious and improvement focused, and we are looking for a Systems Engineer to take technical ownership across our cloud, identity, endpoint and collaboration platforms. Orro designs and runs digital infrastructure for some of Australia's biggest brands, and we hold our own internal environment to exactly the same standard. You will be the escalation point for the complex technical work, and the person shaping how we automate, document and mature the platforms our people depend on every day.
About Orro
We're an Australian success story, now close to 500 people strong, delivering secure, end to end digital solutions across cloud, collaboration, cyber security, data services and network infrastructure, all backed by over 20 years of experience. Trusted by some of Australia's biggest brands, Orro leads the way in designing, building and operating digital infrastructure that delivers greater efficiency, agility, performance and resilience. Our solutions take the stress out of tech for more than 400 businesses and over 20 million Australians every single day.
Our mission? To create "future now" solutions making it faster, simpler and safer for people to access, store and share information, wherever they are and whoever they're with. But more than that, we know that real impact comes from connecting people, not just machines. That's why we take the time to understand our clients; how they work, what matters to them, and where they're headed so we can deliver not just what they need today, but what they'll need next.
With offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth, and teams across New Zealand, the Philippines and the UK, Orro is known for delivering future ready solutions, backed by deep expertise, genuine human insight and lasting partnerships.
What You'll Be Doing
Internal IT owns the platforms every Orro employee touches, from identity and endpoints through to collaboration and cloud services. As Systems Engineer you will hold technical ownership across that environment, splitting your time between escalated operational work and project delivery. You will work alongside the Security, Infrastructure, Cloud and Network teams, plus vendors and business stakeholders, in a Microsoft centric, cloud first environment. The role runs to standard business hours, with participation in the Internal IT on call roster and occasional out of hours work as projects require.
Administer, maintain and support Orro's internal cloud, identity, endpoint, collaboration and infrastructure services
Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, owning incidents and service requests through to resolution or clean handover
Monitor system health, availability, performance and security posture, acting early on risks and improvement opportunities
Contribute to the design, implementation and operational transition of internal IT projects, platform enhancements and lifecycle activities
Support backup, patching, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery and access governance, and assist with audit and compliance evidence activities
Improve efficiency through automation and standardisation, and keep runbooks, configuration records and knowledge articles genuinely useful
What You'll Bring
The Essentials
3 to 5 years in a systems engineer, systems administrator, cloud support, modern workplace or similar infrastructure role
Hands on administration of Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and licensing
Experience with Microsoft Entra ID covering identity lifecycle, access management and identity security controls, along with Microsoft Intune, Windows 10/11, device compliance and Autopilot
Working knowledge of Azure administration across compute, storage, backup, monitoring and access control, plus Microsoft Defender or comparable security tooling for endpoint security, alert investigation and vulnerability remediation
Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph or Azure CLI, backed by strong documentation habits
Bonus Points
Experience with hybrid identity environments including Active Directory, Entra Connect, group policy or migration away from legacy directory services
Certifications such as AZ 104, MD 102, SC 300, SC 200, MS 102 or ITIL Foundation
Exposure to audit and compliance activities such as ISO 27001, IRAP, Essential Eight or PCI DSS
Even if you don't tick every box, don't let that hold you back. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
