Senior Financial Accountant
Location: Sydney
Hybrid Work Model
We are not your typical finance team. We are commercially focused, analytically sharp and deeply embedded in the business, and we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to own our core financial operations as Orro continues to scale. This is not a back office compliance role. You will sit at the intersection of reporting, governance and process improvement, working hand in hand with the Finance Controller and FP&A to make our numbers faster, cleaner and more useful.
About Orro
We’re an Australian success story, now close to 500 people strong, delivering secure, end-to-end digital solutions across cloud, collaboration, cyber security, data services and network infrastructure, all backed by over 20 years of experience. Trusted by some of Australia’s biggest brands, Orro leads the way in designing, building and operating digital infrastructure that delivers greater efficiency, agility, performance and resilience. Our solutions take the stress out of tech for more than 400 businesses and over 20 million Australians every single day.
Our mission? To create “future now” solutions making it faster, simpler and safer for people to access, store and share information, wherever they are and whoever they’re with. But more than that, we know that real impact comes from connecting people, not just machines. That’s why we take the time to understand our clients; how they work, what matters to them, and where they’re headed so we can deliver not just what they need today, but what they’ll need next.
With offices in London, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth, and teams across New Zealand, and the Philippines, Orro is known for delivering future-ready solutions, backed by deep expertise, genuine human insight and lasting partnerships.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will take ownership of Orro's month end close, balance sheet integrity and compliance processes, while actively contributing to the finance transformation agenda. Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will partner closely with FP&A, project managers and senior leaders to ensure our financial reporting is accurate, timely and genuinely decision useful. This is a role for someone who wants to do more than process journals — you will identify what can be improved and drive those changes.
Lead the full month end close cycle including journals, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis
Own WIP reporting and accounting treatment, including monthly calculations and trend analysis
Take full accountability for balance sheet reconciliations and substantiation across all accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards under the governance of the Finance Controller, and maintain financial controls and governance frameworks
Support and coordinate the external audit process, including preparation of audit packs and acting as the primary point of contact with auditors
Own the forecast cashflow process including preparation, analysis and working capital management across debtors and creditors
Identify and implement process improvements to month end close timetables, automation and system enhancements
What You'll Bring
The Essentials
CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
4 or more years of experience in financial accounting, ideally within a mid to large organisation or professional services environment
Strong working knowledge of Australian accounting standards with proven experience managing month end and audit processes end to end
High attention to detail combined with strong analytical capability and the ability to work accurately under time pressure
Confident communicator who can engage non-finance stakeholders and translate numbers into clear business language
Bonus Points
Experience in a fast paced, growth stage or PE backed environment
Even if you don’t tick every box, don’t let that hold you back. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
